CERAKOTE® Ceramic Headlight Restoration Kit

BLUF: Good product, Glaring omission in instructions. You only have one shot and a very small time window to do the final step and apply the coating so don't mess up. (The instructions do not make this very clear, pun intended) Pros: Headlights look almost new Easy to Apply Potentially a "lifetime" coating Cons One Shot Some sanding marks still visible on the headlight if you look for them Smell Velcro on the sanding disks failed on 6/6 disks that I used. I used this product to restore the headlights on my 2013 Scion FRS, my headlights were in decent shape but the UV coating was starting to fail on the top parts of the headlights so I purchased this kit since it was only a matter of time until the rest of the coating failed. Overall the product worked well and did return my headlights to an almost new condition. The headlights aren't perfect, there are faint sanding marks that are still visible but in order to see them you have to be looking for them and the lighting has to be just right. However I had to order a second product due to what I think is a pretty big omission in the instructions both written and on their application video. When you get to the final step and apply the coating you have a very short time to apply it. If you get a streak or miss a spot you have to hit it immediately, YOU CANNOT GO BACK AND TOUCH IT UP, after about 30 sec to 1 minute the product will have dried enough that any attempt to fix the problem will make it worse. This is only mentioned in the instructions as "ONLY APPLY A SINGLE COAT" I really think Cerakote needs to clarify that warning. And now that they have partnered with Griots Garage so that this can be sold at Autozone this is even more important. The included sanding disks are really not great, During the wet sanding the adhesive failed on every single sanding disk, following the directions they are clear to say keep the headlight wet the entire time. Also the instructions say sand for 2-3 minutes, sand until everything is nice and even not based on time. This is especially true with the higher grit finishing paper. Make sure you apply this in a well ventilated area, the ceramic coating has a strong odor and after applying in my garage I had a pretty nasty headache. If you have the ability to remove your headlights from your car it makes the application one million times easier.

AMAZING! I'm a 62 year old woman and was able to do this myself. It was so easy to use. I live in an apartment building and had no problems following the directions.

Nearly perfect. Im thrilled with the result. Hope it lasts, but will smile for as long as it looks this good. (As instructed, lots of water on the sanding step to avoid any scratches.)

Awesome product, highly recommend. I was about to spend close to $1000 on a new set of headlights. Used as instructed, my old headlights are new again.

Relatively easy to use, much more so than the more common sand and buff method. Much more effective than expected! The weather damage to the top of the headlights was pretty rough (see pic), and this was nothing more than a final Hail Mary pass before dropping $350 on new headlight assemblies. Very surprised at how well it worked. Removed ~90%+ of yellowing and damage. My only complaint is in regards to the final step. A ceramic wipe. This is what brings the clear look back (looks scratched up from sanding prior). The ceramic coating works great, the directions however are not very clear on application. The final ceramic wipe must be put on even/straight. A wrong move of any sort will result in the ceramic smudging. It can be gone back over but only if done quickly. Once it sets, its near permanent. This timeframe and/or the potential for screwing it up are not mentioned in the instructions. Fortunately, it turned out very well for our Terrain. Overall an excellent product at an excellent price. Much cheaper (and easier) than removing the front clip to replace the headlight housings! It buys a significant amount of time. No doubt I will eventually have to replace. Will absolutely use again, have a few more vehicles that demand attention to the headlight housings!
